Gail M. Dunfey, Ph.D.

Dr. Gail Dunfey is an experienced professional clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. She holds a Master's and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Dunfey's clinical training focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals, couples, families, and groups utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems approaches to psychotherapy. Her training included a mind/body approach to psychotherapy and intervention strategies sensitive to diverse client populations.
Dr. Dunfey is a licensed psychologist and health services provider in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She works in private practice in Wellesley, MA and Hampton, NH and is associated with The Counseling Center of Nashua in the Hampton office. In her psychotherapy practice at The Counseling Center, Dr. Dunfey currently specializes in short-term cognitive-behavioral treatment of adults in individual psychotherapy. She offers clients dealing with single episodes of anxiety, panic, acute stress, depression, and bereavement a way to decrease symptoms as they increase conscious awareness and relaxation. Dr. Dunfey works with her clients to assist them in discovering beliefs and behaviors that interfere with their social, occupational, sexual, and/or emotional functioning. Within a safe and confidential setting, clients explore relationships, family dynamics, academic goals, career decisions, and major life transitions. The therapy process is individually designed to help each client increase and improve self-esteem, trust and intimacy in relationships, daily productivity, personal creativity, spiritual growth, and physical and emotional well-being.
Dr. Dunfey previously worked in clinical positions at the Danielsen Institute at Boston University, the Student Health and Counseling Center at the University of Southern California, the Student Counseling Center at the California Institute of Technology, and a number of community mental health agencies.
