Elizabeth L. Howell, Psy.D.,

Doctor Howell earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She completed her master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While pursuing her master's degree, Dr. Howell completed her clinical training in New Hampshire at Seaborne Hospital in Dover and the University of New Hampshire's Counseling Center in Durham.

Dr. Howell earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, New Hampshire. While in her doctoral program, Dr. Howell trained at the Lahey Hitchcock Clinic in Nashua, New Hampshire, where she provided clinical services to adults and children in an outpatient setting. Additionally, Dr. Howell trained in the Chelmsford, Massachusetts' public schools, providing individual therapy and psychological assessments with children from the elementary through high school grades. While there, she developed an interest in Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and focused her dissertation on studying factors affecting teachers' acceptance of ADHD interventions.

Dr. Howell completed her doctoral internship at Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse, New York. This included rotations at: the Madison County Mental Health Center (an outpatient clinic setting), the Oneida Street Clinic (an urban, outreach clinic serving the severely mentally ill) and the Center for Youth Services (an outpatient clinic specializing in child therapy). Additionally, Dr. Howell consulted on an outreach project to the Onondaga Indian Nation to help connect families on the reservation to mental health services.

Prior to joining The Counseling Center, Dr. Howell has been working with Onondaga-Madison-Cortland Boces' Kasson Road School in Syracuse, New York. She provided individual, group, family therapy and psychological assessments to children and adolescents through the State University of New York's Upstate Medical Center.

Dr. Howell provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults, as well as couples' therapy and performs psychological assessments. In addition to her general practice of psychology, Dr. Howell has experience and interest in the assessment and treatment of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in children and adults, and has experience with disruptive behavior disorders, trauma-related issues, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, developmental issues, adjustment and relational issues.
