Bonnie Kanin, Ph.D.

Dr Kanin received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and completed an internship in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. In addition to working in private practice for many years (treating children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples', family and group psychotherapy), Dr Kanin served as consultant to the Biological Psychiatry and the Child Psychiatry Branches of the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD as well as to the University of Maryland School of Nursing and the Frederick County, Maryland Health Department. She has taught courses in psychology at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA), Montgomery College (Gaithersburg, MD), Hesser College (Manchester, NH) and NH Community Technical College in Concord, NH and participated in and published research in the areas of ADHD and drug treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, precocious puberty, and childhood aggression. Interest in drug treatment led to a 3-year stint as a representative for Wyeth Pharmaceutical Company, promoting the anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drug Effexor XR.
Clinical interests include the development of psychological health as well as psychological issues in children and adults. Her current clinical practice at The Counseling Center includes psychological evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults.
