Katerina Tolstikova, Ph.D.

Post-Doctoral Fellow in Psychology

Dr. Katerina Tolstikova started her career in psychology at Moscow State University in Russia where she worked with veterans of military conflicts and their family members. She continued her professional training in Canada and obtained her Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from York University and her doctoral degree from University of Saskatchewan. She completed her clinical internship at the Royal University Hospital with a focus on children and adults experiencing health problems and developmental difficulties.  

Dr. Tolstikova provides psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults. Her area of clinical and research interest and expertise is in emotional regulation and emotional processing in the face of adverse life events, including grief and loss, psychological trauma, illness and other life transitions. In addition, Dr. Tolstikova conducts neuropsychological, developmental, psycho-educational, and psychological testing with adults, children and adolescents. She maintains expertise in the assessment of developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, fetal alcohol syndrome, dementia, and other school and behavioral problems.

Dr. Tolstikova is bi-lingual and can conduct therapy and assessment in English and in Russian. She has presented and published professional articles on grief and trauma, and is a member of the American Psychological Association.
