Brad Spickard earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine and a Masters of Public Administration from West Virginia University. Prior to entry into a doctoral program, Mr. Spickard worked for several years in physical rehabilitation hospitals with individuals presenting with a variety of injuries and illnesses. He is currently completing his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University with emphases in Health Psychology and Neuropsychology. Mr. Spickard completed his accredited predoctoral internship at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he obtained training in behavioral medicine, cognitive assessment and intervention, and individual psychotherapy. In the area of behavioral medicine, his training has included counseling and intervention for patients struggling with cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, and post cardiac rehabilitation. In addition, Mr. Spickard has expertise in assessment and treatment of primary and secondary insomnia, and maintains a specialty interest in health psychology and neuropsychology. Mr. Spickard is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Division of Health Psychology. |
Mr. Spickard maintains a general practice in assessment and therapy, working primarily with adults, young adults, and adolescents with a variety of presenting issues, including health-related concerns. He is interested in working with motivational difficulties related to positive health behavior change, particularly in individuals struggling with cancer, diabetes, cardiac rehabilitation, and chronic pain. Mr. Spickard utilizes a patient-focused approach and places a strong emphasis on the strengths of the client and the client's support network in order to provide effective therapeutic intervention and facilitate change. |
